homemade Maple Syrup vs. Aunt Jemima

Maple syrup is a great condiment. There are 2 basic types of syrup. One type of maple syrup is homemade and the other type is an artificial syrup made in a factory.

Broad Question

Does homemade maple syrup taste better than Aunt Jemima?

Specific Question

Can you tell the difference between homemade maple syrup and Aunt Jemima

Hypothesis

I think 11 out of 12 people will be able to tell which syrup is homemade.

Independent Variable: spoons, cups, Aunt Jemima syrup and homemade maple syrup.

Dependent Variable: the percent of people who could tell which was the real, homemade maple syrup.

Variables That Need To Be Controlled: I had to make sure that the testers could not see the original containers that the syrups were in so I put a sample of each syrup in a plain cup.

Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

Homemade Maple Syrup - this is syrup that comes right out of a maple tree and is then boiled overnight to thicken.
Spile and hook - metal or plastic tubes that are inserted into a hole drilled into a maple tree. The hook is to hang a bucket under the spile to collect the sap.

General Plan

My plan was to bring in one bottle of real, homemade maple syrup and one bottle of Aunt Jemima Pancake syrup. Then i wanted to see how many people could tell which was the real maple syrup

Experimental Design

1. First I brought in the real maple syrup and the Aunt Jemima.
2. I made a simple data table labeled "Syrup Survey."
3. Next I found 14 adults in my school who were willing to do my taste test.
4. I poured a sample of each syrup into a cup.
5. Then I had
